WE SWIM Grants

Applications are now open for the WE SWIM program.

The Albanese Government, in partnership with the Royal Life Saving Society Australia, is making swimming at the beach and pool safer for our community.

The WE SWIM program is a new national initiative to reduce drowning risk and remove barriers to water safety education for recently arrived migrants and multicultural communities.

People from multicultural communities face a higher risk of drowning. One in three drowning deaths in Australia involve people born overseas, and that risk climbs every summer as families head to pools, beaches and rivers.

Councils, aquatic centres, multicultural organisations, lifesaving clubs, schools and universities are invited to apply for the program under four different streams:

  • WE SWIM Place-Based Partnerships: grants of up to $100,000, open to multi-partner local coalitions intending to shift water safety outcomes across a region.

  • WE SWIM Community Programs: grants of up to $50,000, open to community partnerships addressing a specific barrier, cohort, or swimming and water safety pathway in a local area.

  • WE SWIM Pathfinder Ambassadors: grants of up to $10,000 for organisations and up to $3,000 for individuals, open to trusted multicultural community voices raising water safety awareness.

  • WE SWIM Pathfinder Emerging Leaders: grants of up to $10,000, open to event organisers to provide leadership opportunities for multicultural leaders under 30, at conferences and events.

More information is available here.

Applications close Thursday, 24 September.
